Summer Activities in Historic Downtown Mystic 

You don’t need to stray far from the inn to enjoy this activity. Simply walk outside your room and you’re right in the heart of historic downtown Mystic. There are dozens of boutiques to tour with something for everyone. Indulge in local fudge, a spice and tea shop, ice cream, bakeries, and more to fuel all your shopping needs.

Head over to the Mystic River Park across the street from the inn. It’s a great area to set up a picnic or catch up on summer reading. Afterward, you can watch the bridge rise as unique vessels pass through.

Ready to sightsee around Mystic by boat? There are plenty of tours that you can take. Travelers have the option to set sail for a sunset ride aboard the Argia, climb aboard historic watercraft from the Mystic Seaport Museum, or choose from a range of rentals from Adventure Mystic and relish in the beauty of the water.

Mystic Aquarium 

If you’re looking to create unforgettable family memories, The Mystic Aquarium is the perfect adventure for any age. Kids have a whale of a time interacting with different species from the sea. They’ll learn the importance of ocean conservation and the Peguins in Downtown Mysticprotection of wildlife throughout this excursion. Interactive education continues through time travel.

Explore the age of dinosaurs with their “Jurassic Giants” exhibit.  Be sure to check out our “Under the Sea” experience to enhance these vacation memories.

Mystic Seaport Museum 

Visitors come from near and far to delve into the storied past of our rich maritime history. There’s nothing quite comparable to a day at the Mystic Seaport Museum. Stroll through a sprawling recreated 19th-century seafaring village. Watch history come to life as craftsmen hone their skills in their working shipyard, journey through world-class exhibitions and encounter the world’s last wooden whaling ship— The Morgan.

Summer Boating in Mystic

Pssst, does this name ring a bell? That’s right, we did name our Morgan Suite after this famous shipwright.

The trip isn’t complete without a stop inside the magnificent planetarium and historic gardens. Make the most of this activity with our “Seafarer’s Journey” experience.

Coogan Farm 

It’s time to adventure into the outdoors! Wander through 10 miles of nature trails that connect Coogan Farm to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center (you may recognize this family name on one of our suites). You can either walk or bike these trails. They are typically flatter with a few steep inclines peppered throughout.

Summer Hiking in Mystic

Along the trail, you’ll find a puzzling historic structure still standing. It’s the foundation of an unfinished pastoral mansion. This project was started by the Stillman family in 1901 but was never completed. Take in the great view of Mystic and rest your feet on a few of the benches along the way. There is also a walking meditation trail to keep you grounded.

Pair this activity with a trip to the popular Olde Mistick Village. You’ll be able to reach it while meandering through the trails.

Olde Mistick Village 

Olde Mistick Village is another destination to find the perfect present to bring back to your loved ones. Better yet, treat yourself to something to remember your vacation by! This location is an open-air village complete with a duck pond, water wheel, a gazebo, and an old church to round out the charming vibes of this shopping spot.

Summer Shopping in Mystic

Delight your sweet tooth with the decadent and “Insta-worthy” fluffy doughnuts at Deviant Donuts. Harry Potter fans will be excited to venture upon the Cloak and Wand, and Ireland lovers will feel at home in Irish Eyes. You can also do a tasting of a variety of flavors of local honey and different types of oil at Sticky Situations and Extra Virgin Oil. Tree Trails Adventure Mystic 

Are you ready to fly? Ok, not actually fly…however, it’s pretty close! Experience a rush as you zip through the trees at this thrilling Connecticut adventure park. Navigate bridges, zip lines and swings made from wood, cable and rope above the forest floor at Tree Trails Adventure Mystic.
